Overview of endpoints provides confidence at Naviair

Naviair

Over the years, Naviair, the entity responsible for controlling air traffic, has invested in a variety of IT security systems. However, as the number of systems increased, maintaining an overview became challenging. The solution came in the form of Insight Analytics.

Naviair has consistently invested in Microsoft security systems such as Microsoft System Center, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Defender.

Security Systems Lead to Information Overload

While these systems offer valuable insights into Naviair's infrastructure and security, they also present a challenge—information overload.

"We needed to distill all the information we could extract from Microsoft's systems, and we needed help figuring out where to focus," says Yngve Solhaug, IT Client System Specialist at Naviair.

25% "Invisible" Devices Pose a Security Risk

One widespread issue in IT security for companies is that even the most thorough Endpoint Management efforts often fall short in practice. Security efforts cover only the devices that systems know they should protect, leaving "invisible" devices vulnerable.

Around 90% of all cyberattacks target unmanaged devices, and in the majority of companies assisted by Insight Analytics, over 25% of their devices are unknown and thus unprotected by security systems.

"When we installed Insight Analytics to test its relevance for us, we could visualize within minutes that many of our PCs were unmanaged, and 25% of them were not onboarded in Microsoft Defender. It was a surprise for us, and that alone was enough for us to proceed with Insight Analytics," says Yngve Solhaug.

"It was hard to see the forest for the trees. We had all the data, but we didn't have the overview we wanted. With Insight Analytics, we quickly gained the overview, and shortly after, we could work on a wide range of hygiene factors that we got under control. Today, we can quantify a significant improvement in our security score and exposure score by around 10 points. In other words, in a relatively short time, we have become less vulnerable to cyberattacks."

Among the World's Leading Experts

When Naviair sought a partner to enhance IT security, Insight Analytics was chosen, primarily due to its extensive experience.

"The Insight Analytics team is among the world's leading experts in Modern Workplace, Endpoint Management, and Security," says Yngve Solhaug.

Device Control

Unmanaged devices, those not controlled by the central IT function, pose a significant security risk. Insight Analytics provides the overview that ensures updates and patches are rolled out to all devices.

Value for Money

While Naviair had already heavily invested in Microsoft Defender, a large portion of the organization's devices were not covered by the security system. With cybercriminals likely to target unprotected devices, the investment now makes much more sense and is effective.

Ongoing Collaboration Adds Great Value

Naviair regularly collaborates with Insight Analytics consultants, reviewing data. Security is monitored, and the parties jointly decide on focus areas for the upcoming period. This provides a clear common goal, specific areas of action, and a high level of confidence for Naviair.
